Coronavirus Update 26.03.2020 School Closure Information

Hi Parents and Carers,

Today, the Government has announced all public schools in Western Australia will remain open until the end of term – Thursday, 9 April 2020

However, families are now encouraged to keep their children at home from the 30th March if they have the capacity to do so. From the end of Friday, 3rd April formal classes will official end, one week early. Our school and staff will be planning and preparing for a different teaching model for Term 2 and beyond.

The Department’s learning from home resources are on https://www.education.wa.edu.au/learning-at-home and as notified yesterday you would have all now received access to the Parent Space and your child's class on CONNECT. If you haven't, please email GwynnePark.ESC@education.wa.edu.au and we will be able to support you.

Staff are also beginning to upload resources to support the ongoing learning for your child on CONNECT and they are organising work packages to be sent home or posted if your child is currently at home. Moving forward, staff will be in contact with you over the coming days to find out how best we can support you moving into Term 2 2020.

The school recognises there will still be families who need to send their children to school to continue their learning during this period. These may include:

  • Children of parents and carers who need their children to attend school to maintain employment.
  • Children who live in families with aged relatives.
  • Children where it is safer for them to be at school.

In the meantime if you have any questions please consult the https://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus website or call Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080.

Thank you for your ongoing support through this uncertain time of COVID-19. Daily, the circumstances surrounding the situation changes and I thank you for your patience.

Please look after yourselves, support the people around you and stay safe.

Kind Regards

Response to Parents

Dear Parents and Carers,

I acknowledge the situation regarding the COVID-19 continues to evolve. In the response to a number of parent inquires our school is open and will continue to provide education to our students who are attending.

As a school community we are taking a practical approach to COVID-19 to support out students education, if the school were to close due to a confirmed case.

One of these approaches is parent access to CONNECT and you will receive information to access these platforms for your child very soon.

If you have any questions please get in contact with me.

Kind Regards
Natasha

Coronavirus Update 20.03.2020

Hi Parents and Carers,

While the Department of Health advises that the risk of transmission in Western Australia remains low; they are monitoring the situation and we are acting on their advice to take any necessary precautions for schools and our staff. The current focus is on minimising and preventing transmission and making sure that our school system is prepared for a possible case.

Western Australians should remain alert, but not be alarmed.

On Sunday 15 March, the Prime Minister introduced measures placed on international arrivals into Australia. This means a mandatory 14-day self-isolation requirement will be placed on all international arrivals into Australia effective from today. This also applies to all parents/carers, contractors, visitors and volunteers on school sites.

Students or staff who have been tested for COVID-19 should follow the advice of the Department of Health and stay away from school whilst awaiting results.

The above also applies to all parents/carers, contractors, visitors and volunteers on school sites.

Parents/carers and staff should notify their school or line manager if the student or staff member will be away for the isolation period.

Our recess and lunch arrangements will remain in place as we have assigned play areas for all students across both school sites. Our immediate focus is on ensuring proper handwashing procedures are followed by all students. Staff will be working closely with students regarding correct coughing and sneezing protocols to follow to minimise the spreading of germs.

The health of our staff, students and school community is paramount during this time. As of Monday 23rd March 2020, the school will be restricting non-essential visitors onsite, this is inclusive of Therapy Providers. Each provider is contactable via email and phone and I encourage you to contact your provider to organise alternative ways to access therapy.

The following school excursions have been postponed indefinitely in light of current information.

  • Tuesday Swimming for ES2 & Room 16

The following Whole School Events have been cancelled in light of current information and alternative celebrations put in place to support these events.

P&C Easter Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser

ANZAC Day – 7th April 2020

  • In class activities and the recognition of ANZAC Day will be facilitated by class teachers on this day.

School Assembly – 9th April 2020

Easter Bonnet Parade – 9th April 2020

In the meantime, if you have any questions please consult the https://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/coronavirus website or call Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080.

Updates to this information will be provided as the situation unfolds.
